SIBU, Jan 16: A 29-year-old man was found lying unconscious next to a car that was destroyed in a fire at Jalan Tun Ahmad Zaidi Adruce last night.
Sibu Fire and Rescue Department chief Andy Alie said that they were informed about the incident at 7.47pm.
According to him, a total of 10 firefighters along with Fire Rescue Tender (FRT) and Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) machinery were deployed to the location.
“Arriving at the location, the fire brigade found a car on fire and immediately started extinguishing the fire with a fire extinguisher.
“Preliminary information obtained showed that the fire occurred as a result of treachery,” he said.
Firefighters then found the man who was the driver of the car lying beside the vehicle in an unconscious state.
The victim was then handed over to a paramedic team and taken to Sibu Hospital for follow-up treatment, Andy said.
He added that the fire brigade took almost an hour to put out the fire which was successfully brought under control at 8.10pm. — DayakDaily
