KUCHING, Oct 3: Motorcyclists wishing to upgrade from Licence (LMM) Class B2/B1 to LMM Class B under the Special Transition Programme will now only need to have held an active license for 10 years or more, rather than 10 consecutive years, as previously required.

Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook, in a TV Sarawak (TVS) report, announced the relaxed condition following feedback from the public, noting that many motorists faced challenges renewing their licenses during the Movement Control Order (MCO) in 2020.

“We discussed the issue with Road Transport Department (JPJ) director-general Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramly, and he agreed to relax the conditions,” Loke said.

However, other requirements, such as being free from any blacklists or outstanding legal cases, will remain unchanged.

The minister urged patience from the public, explaining that system updates would be made in the coming days to allow more applicants to benefit from the program at participating driving institutes. — DayakDaily
