Transport ministry mulls placing thermal scanners at Sarawak-Brunei checkpoint

MIRI, Jan 29: The state’s Ministry of Transport is considering placing thermal scanners at the Sungai Tujoh entry point at the Sarawak-Brunei border, to detect travellers who may be infected with the coronavirus.

Minister of Transport Datuk Lee Kim Shin said that there were already thermal scanners at Miri airport.

“We will propose to medical department for the purpose (of installing thermal scanners) including placing their staff at the checkpoints,” he said when met today at his residence prior the arrival of Sarawak Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg and wife Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tuanku Bujang.


Also present were Minister of Infrastructure and Ports Development Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Hasan, Minister of Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports Datuk Aabdul Karim Rahman Hamzah,Assistant Minisiter of Local Government and Local Housing Datu Dr Penguang Manggil, Assistant Minister of Lww, State-Federal Relations and Project Monitoeing Datuk Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali and other State cabinet ministers. —DayakDaily
