KUCHING, April 15: The bad traffic congestion at the T-junction at Lorong 3 in Jalan Stakan, Kota Sentosa, has been causing much inconvenience for road users.

Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Public Complaints Bureau (SUPP PCB) chief Wilfred Yap said he had received complaints from the residents and business community that it was caused by many road users using it as a by-pass to avoid traffic congestion at the Kota Sentosa commercial area.

“The matter has been brought to the attention of Padawan Municipal Council (MPP)’s Engineering Department, and government funding to upgrade that junction has been approved,” said Yap in a statement today.

He added that there were also eight squatter houses on both sides of that junction’s entrance. Hence, he himself, MPP officers and SUPP’s 7th Mile Sub Branch members would assess the situation to ensure there would not be any problem or minimal disruption to the proposed upgrading project before MPP could call for the open tender.

He said he would continue to follow up and monitor the situation closely until the upgrading works at the T-junction were properly completed to the satisfaction and benefit of all affected parties.

The bureau is always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone facing problems or who comes across problems of public interest but does not know how to deal with it.

Anyone requiring assistance can call SUPP Public Complaint’s mobile number at 016-7797688 or 082-246999 or go direct to SUPP head office to request for assistance. — DayakDaily
