KUCHING, Aug 19: Vision alone is not enough as execution through unity is the key to unlocking ASEAN’s limitless potential, says Malaysia Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture Dato Seri Tiong King Sing.
Speaking on the Regional Forum to Deepen Stakeholder Awareness and Engagement on the ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community (ASCC) Strategic Plan, which he attended today, he said ASEAN’s shared identity must continue to be the catalyst that strengthens its partnerships while promoting each other’s culture and heritage.
“Malaysia has long recognised that the ASCC is not merely ASEAN’s ‘soft pillar’, but in fact a critical driver of regional stability, social cohesion, and justice.
“Beyond culture, education, and social protection, it is ASEAN’s most capable platform to confront today’s complex challenges—from climate change to information disorder, ageing populations, and the vulnerabilities of transnational communities,” he said in a Facebook post.
Therefore, he called on everyone to embrace collective ownership and strong partnerships to realise the ASCC Strategic Plan.
“Together, with renewed strength and commitment, we can build a future-ready ASEAN that leaves no one behind,” he said. — DayakDaily
