KUCHING, Jan 5: Federal Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture Dato Sri Tiong King Sing dismissed the alleged ‘Dubai Move’ to topple the Madani government as nothing more than a ‘waste of time’ drama destined for failure.

Emphasising the people’s hope for stability and economic recovery amidst the challenges of a high cost of living, Tiong challenged the motives of those involved, asking, “What is your motive?”

“As far as I can remember, the individuals implicated in the attempt to overthrow the government once held top positions in the government. When you are in position, you screwed up. When you are no longer in power, there are a lot of criticisms and plans to return to power.

“If the actions by some alleged individuals desperate to topple the government for personal political gain really exist, then this clearly shows that these people deliberately want to ‘close their eyes’ to the contraction of the national economy as a result of various political changes in the country over the past few years,” he said in a post shared on his social media today.

He highlighted this in responding to questions from the press after attending a ceremony to present the Second Phase of Malaysia Traditional Attire under the Cultural Diplomacy initiative in Putrajaya yesterday (Jan 4).

Tiong, who is also Bintulu MP, called for respect for the choices made by Malaysians and fulfilling their wishes by focusing on accelerating the country’s economic recovery, emphasising that political stability is crucial for sustained development.

“If the country’s politics are unstable, all parties will be affected, especially the people. Why can’t we give Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim an opportunity to show his ability and evaluate and examine the Cabinet’s performance? If you’re not satisfied, translate it in the next election.

“All politicians should realise that at this point, they have a huge responsibility to rebuild the image and restore the confidence of foreign investors in the country,” he pointed out.
Tiong urged those involved not to continue their plans as they have repeatedly discredited the Madani government and impugned the current leadership’s competence.

Instead of causing annoyance that can lead to the division of the people, he urged them to channel their energy and time into serving the people.

“Show your achievements or service performance to gain public support and strengthen your chances in the next election.

“If you do that, the people will be more confident. Do not use cunning tactics for personal agenda because it is clear that it can affect the country’s future and will not earn the respect of the people,” he added. — DayakDaily
