KUCHING, Nov 4: Tourism Malaysia has been recognised as one of the region’s leading tourism agencies after winning the Asia Best Choice Tourism Organisation Award 2025.
The award, presented by Mediatama Award Management in collaboration with the National Award Foundation, was conferred during the Asia Best Choice Award 2025 ceremony held at Hotel Savoy Homann in Bandung, West Java on October 31.
Tourism Malaysia Director-General Datuk Manoharan Periasamy was named the official recipient of the accolade, which was accepted on his behalf by Tourism Malaysia Jakarta Director, Hairi Mohd Yakzan.
“We are truly honoured to receive this recognition. It reflects the dedication of our teams in Malaysia and Indonesia in continuously promoting Malaysia as a preferred destination,” said Hairi.
“This award motivates us to strengthen our partnerships, explore new marketing strategies, and create meaningful experiences for travellers from Indonesia and beyond,” he added, noting that the recognition will further inspire efforts to enhance promotions and attract more visitors to Malaysia in the coming year.

The recognition marks another milestone for Tourism Malaysia, which has previously been named National Tourism Organisation of the Year for five consecutive years (2019, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024) by the Indonesia Travel & Tourism Awards (ITTA) Foundation.
Between January and August 2025, Malaysia recorded 28.2 million international visitor arrivals, a 14.5 per cent increase compared to the same period in 2024. The surge reflects Malaysia’s growing appeal, offering a blend of vibrant urban destinations, diverse culinary experiences, serene islands and culturally rich heritage towns.
Looking ahead, Tourism Malaysia is intensifying preparations for Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026), which aims to elevate the nation’s global tourism standing and attract 47 million international visitors through continuous innovation and collaboration.
The upcoming VM2026 campaign will highlight sustainability within the national tourism industry, aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDG).
Tourism Malaysia also continues to support the Indonesia-Malaysia-Thailand Growth Triangle (IMT-GT) initiative under the Visit IMT-GT Year 2023-2025, which promotes the region as an integrated tourism destination. —DayakDaily
