Total Covid-19 patients hospitalised, quarantined hits 1,632 today

The current status of hospitals in Sarawak catering for Covid-19 patients as of Jan 27, 2020.

KUCHING, Jan 27: The number of Covid-19 patients in hospitals as well as Quarantine and Low-Risk Treatment Centres (PKRC) throughout Sarawak has increased to 1,632 today.

At the same time, Sarawak reported 143 recoveries with 102 patients discharged from the Sibu Hospital, 28 from the Miri Hospital, eight from the Bintulu Hospital and five from the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH).


This, State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said had increased the total number of recovered cases in Sarawak to 2,101 or 55.67 per cent of total positive cases so far.

As for hospitalised active cases, the Sibu Hospital is registering most cases with 1,036 patients being isolated and receiving treatment.

“Hospital Miri has 278 cases, SGH has 165 cases, Bintulu Hospital has 98 cases, Kapit Hospital has 40 cases, Sarikei Hospital has 14 cases and Limbang Hospital one case,” he told a press conference on Covid-19 update today.

Two patients in SGH, four patients in Sibu Hospital and one patient in Miri Hospital are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) while two patients in SGH, three in Sibu Hospital and two in Miri Hospital required the support of medical equipment.

Meanwhile, Sarawak reported one more Covid-19 fatality in Sibu and 70 new infections today (Jan 22), with Sibu recording the highest number of cases at 34 followed by Dalat (10), Bintulu (9), Kanowit (7), Betong (4), two each in Miri and Serian, and one each in Kuching and Bau.

As such, the state tally of positive cases has now been pushed up to 3,774. —DayakDaily
