Top cop Dev Kumar returns to Bukit Aman after three terms in Sarawak

KUCHING, Nov 4: Outgoing Sarawak Deputy Police Commissioner Datuk Dev Kumar M.M. Sree officially handed over his duties to state police contingent special branch chief SAC Hairuddin Che Hamid during a handing over ceremony here today.

Dev will be taking the position of deputy director Criminal Investigation Department (Intelligence/Operations) at Bukit Aman.

The ceremony was witnessed by Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Aidi Ismail.


Dev, who has served three terms in Sarawak started his career as an investigating officer at the Kuching Central Police Station from 1982 to 1989 right after he graduated from Kuala Lumpur Police Training Centre.

In 2015, he returned to Sarawak after his appointment as the head of Sarawak Criminal Investigation Department until 2018 before moving to Bukit Aman.

He was re-appointed back to Sarawak, this time as the state Deputy Police Commissioner in July 2019.

Meanwhile, Dev thanked everyone present at the event this morning and shared his views and his experience working in Sarawak as wonderful memory throughout his service as a police officer.

Aidi also thanked Dev for the later’s commitment and dedication in carrying out his duties and responsibilities in keeping Sarawak safe and peaceful. — DayakDaily
