KUCHING, Dec 12: Voters must think twice about Parti Sarawak Bersatu’s (PSB) words before committing to them, says Bintulu MP Dato Sri Tiong King Sing.
He referred to the recent hot topic that PSB president Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh revealed the party’s willingness to endorse a Dayak as chief minister if it forms the government after this election.
Tiong had called PSB’s move ‘sudden’ as he said this was never raised in the State Cabinet despite many PSB leaders, including Wong himself, having held ministerial posts before.
“Many leaders of this party have served the Sarawak government, but they have never brought up this initiative until now. So convenient.
“I’m not saying I don’t think a member of the Dayak community is incapable of holding the top post, but we have to wonder why this party made this call during the State election out of all times?
“The PSB president has held several important portfolios in the State Cabinet, but why has he not raised this earlier?” questioned Tiong in a statement today.
Tiong, who is also Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) candidate for Dudong, thus urged the people to think twice before believing in any of the Opposition’s promises.
He said the people must learn from past mistakes, quoting the incident whereby Pakatan Harapan (PH) had overestimated themselves when they became government.
“After the federal government change, many things were not as simple as they imagined them to be.
“In the end, it was the people who were shocked, misled and ended up miserable,” he said. — DayakDaily
