KUCHING, May 28: Bintulu MP Dato Sri Tiong King Sing has promised that he will be spending three days in Bintulu longhouses for the Gawai Dayak celebration, before moving on to visit longhouses in Sibu.
He said this in response to complaints about him not paying enough attention to Bintulu after he was elected as Dudong assemblyman.
“I know that a handful of residents in Bintulu have started to say that I now ‘kong kali kong’ (don’t walk the talk), because I’ve been seen as paying more attention to the ‘second wife’, Sibu, and ignoring the ‘first wife’, Bintulu,” he said.
He explained that although he now has less time to physically be in Bintulu like before, he has always instructed the staff of Bintulu parliamentary service centre to monitor and report any latest issues in Bintulu to him.
“If the people of Bintulu are not happy with the services provided by my staff, please let me know. For my constituents, I will always try my best to resolve all the issues highlighted,” he said in a statement today.
With that, he urged for the people’s understanding and hoped that the spirit of togetherness and unity can be maintained to achieve continuous progress for the sake of development in Bintulu. — DayakDaily
