SIBU, Feb 28: Tiong Hua Road Lane 4 here has been described as a hazardous area which is prone to outbreaks and has reported the highest number of Covid-19 cases in Sibu town.
Assistant Minister for Local Government and Housing Dr Annuar Rapa’ee thus reminded the residents there to prioritise cleanliness.
There were 193 cases reported in the Tiong Hua zone in the past two weeks and one new case reported today.
Dr Annuar who is also the Sibu Divisional Disaster Management Committee (DDMC) coordinator observed that houses there were built in confined spaces and close to each other.
“I am sorry to say that the area in terms of cleanliness and density, it is not very satisfactory.
“Lorong Tiong Hua 4 has the highest number of cases. That is the area where there’s a lot of rented houses and a house built with cubicles.
“We have to look very, very carefully at this area. And there are also many dengue cases.
“I will try to (confer) with other assemblymen in Sibu on how to assist so that there will not be any outbreak,” he said during a livestream on his Facebook page today.
During the livestream, Dr Annuar who is also the Nangka assemblyman disclosed that Sibu discovered 33 Covid-19 cases today from 2,278 tests.
Dr Annuar noted there were also seven cases derived from the Sukun zone and expressed concern as the zone had previously not reported so many cases in a single day.
Dr Annuar cautioned Sukun zone residents to be vigilant while revealing that the areas involved were Lorong Lada 14 with three cases, Lorong Lada 14C with one case, Lorong Sukun 28 with one case, and Lorong Theng Kun Suk 5 with two cases.
He noted there were two cases identified in the Delta zone, adding that Jalan Kaka in the Delta zone has reported one new case for the first time. — DayakDaily
