KUCHING, Dec 24: Special Envoy of the Prime Minister to China Dato Seri Tiong King Sing has called upon Malaysians to hold onto the principles of unity in conjunction with the coming Christmas Day celebration.

He said in the past 12 months, Malaysians have all worked hard, struggled, and persevered in surviving the hard times especially during the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Let us also promote the ideals of diversity and harmonious co-existence and set a good example for our children. I sincerely hope that our people would hold dear the principles of unity, put aside our differences and conflicts with one another.

“Our best hope is to create a harmonious and healthy society which celebrates goodwill,” he said in his Christmas Day message today.

Tiong, who is also Bintulu MP and newly elected Dudong assemblyman, added that no matter how the times have changed, the tradition of giving blessings and well wishes should never end for the Christmas festive season.

With the New Year just around the corner, he urged the people to pause for a while during Christmas to bring joy and cheer to their loved ones, near and far, and reflect on the beginning of 2022.

“When we sing the songs of joy and peace, unwrapping Christmas gifts, let us give a thought to those who are enduring difficulties, those who are less fortunate than us.

“In our happiness and cheer, do remember to lend a helping hand at the right time, promote goodwill, and contribute to building a better society,” he emphasised. — DayakDaily
