Sarawak’s Covid-19 cases drop further to 19, no deaths in past 6 days

KUCHING, Dec 24: Sarawak’s new Covid-19 infections dropped further with 19 cases logged in the past 24 hours and no fatalities recorded in the last six consecutive days.

This thus brought the cumulative cases of Covid-19 in Sarawak to 252,148 and death toll maintained at 1,614.

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), in its latest update on the Covid-19 situation in Sarawak, reported that of the new cases, three patients have more severe symptoms or are in critical condition.


There are two patients under Category 5 with pneumonia and require ventilator support and one patient under Category 3 with pneumonia.

Of the remaining 16 cases, seven were classified under Category 1 with no symptoms and nine under Category 2 with mild symptoms.

New cases were recorded in 10 districts with five cases in Kuching, followed by Sibu with three cases and two cases each in Lawas, Bau and Lundu.

Bintulu, Miri, Samarahan, Sri Aman and Tatau recorded one case each.

Currently, there are no active clusters in Sarawak.

The authorities have also issued nine compounds in Kuching (8) and Sibu (1) for violation of standard operating procedures (SOP) still enforced throughout the State.

The offenses committed by the individuals include failure to scan QR Code for MySejahtera or record their attendance before entering a premises and not wearing a face mask while in public places. ā€” DayakDaily
