Tiong blasts Pelawan rep for DAP’s failure to keep promises to Chinese community,

Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing

KUCHING, Sept 11: Pelawan assemblyman David Wong Kee Woan’s statement that Democratic Action Party (DAP) is not selling out the Chinese contradicts the party’s inaction on many issues, Bintulu MP Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing asserted in a statement today.

“Wong even boasts he would quit DAP if his party ever betrays the Chinese. In that case, over just the Chinese school issue and unfulfilled promise of recognising the UEC (Unified Examination Certificate), he should immediately throw his resignation in,” according to Tiong.

“…[W]e can hardly see any improvements or changes since they took power, for the Chinese community they claim to represent and defend. The most oft-repeated one is of course about recognising the UEC. Thousands of parents and their children going to Chinese schools have to swallow DAP’s promises and they are still waiting in vain for the UEC to be recognised.”

Tiong claimed the Chinese community have not heard a pip from Deputy Education Minister Teo Nie Ching to call for UEC’s recognition nor has she even argued in favour of it.

“This is the reward of the Chinese community for voting in the arrogant and boastful DAP,” Tiong claimed, adding that Wong needs to check his facts before making statements or they will come back to bite him one day.

In view of the state of DAP’s current performance, Tiong, who is also Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) president advised Wong to stop making ‘useless’ statements.

“Just quit the party now and make amends with the Chinese community for your misleading statements over the years. Maybe you can still salvage some of your respectability and reputation.

“Wong should also persuade the DAP leaders to quit en masse for their lies and manipulations to the community. This is the best way to repay the Chinese community for their votes that were fished from them on political grandstanding, deceptions, and overpromises,” Tiong claimed. — DayakDaily
