KUCHING, April 23: Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) issues thunderstorms warning for 17 districts in Sarawak until 6pm today.
According to a Facebook post by MetMalaysia at 3.10pm, the affected districts are Sri Aman, Betong, Saratok, Sarikei, Pakan, Julau, Sibu, Kanowit, Selangau, Mukah, Tanjung Manis, Dalat, Kapit, Song, Bintulu, Subis and Miri.
The department said a warning is issued when there are signs of a thunderstorm with rain intensity exceeding 20 millimeter per hour or is expected to occur for more than an hour.
It added a thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning valid for a period not exceeding six hours for a single release. — DayakDaily
