KUCHING, Jan 2: Thunderstorm warnings have been issued for six districts in Sarawak until 4pm today.
In an advisory notice issued by the Malaysian Meteorological Department (METMalaysia) at 1.50pm today, the affected districts are:
- Sarikei (Pakan and Julau)
- Sibu
- Mukah (Matu, Dalat, and Mukah)
- Kapit (Song and Kapit)
- Bintulu (Tatau)
- Limbang
“A warning is issued when there are signs of a thunderstorm with an intensity of rain exceeding 20 mm/hour that is close to or expected to occur for more than an hour.
“A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning valid for a period not exceeding six hours for a single release,” said the department.
In addition, warnings were also issued to Perak (Bagan Datuk and Hilir Perak), Selangor (Sabak Bernam), Johor (Batu Pahat, Kluang, Kulai, and Johor Bahru), Sabah (Sipitang, Kuala Penyu, and Beaufort), and Labuan. — DayakDaily
