KUCHING, Dec 4: Thunderstorms, heavy rain, and strong winds are forecast in 14 districts throughout Sarawak until 5pm today.
The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia), in an advisory notice issued at 1.30pm, said the affected districts are Kuching, Samarahan, Simunjan, Sri Aman, Betong, Sarikei, Pakan, Meradong, Sibu, Mukah, Tanjung Manis, Daro, Bintulu, and Tatau.
According to the department, a thunderstorm warning is issued when there are signs of a thunderstorm with rain intensity of more than 20mm/hour close to or expected to last for more than an hour.
It added that a thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning valid for a period not exceeding six hours for a single release. — DayakDaily
