Thunderstorms, heavy rain expected across Sarawak this afternoon

KUCHING, Aug 27: A thunderstorm warning has been issued for Sarawak this afternoon by the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia).

Thunderstorms, heavy rain, and strong winds are expected to affect Kuching (Bau and Kuching), Serian, Samarahan, Sri Aman, Betong, Sarikei, Sibu, Mukah (Dalat and Mukah), Kapit (Song and Kapit), Bintulu (Tatau and Sebauh), Miri (Marudi), and Limbang, according to a MetMalaysia notice issued at 2.55pm today which is valid until until 5pm.

“A thunderstorm warning is issued when there are signs of a thunderstorm with a rain intensity of more than 20 mm/hour that is close or expected to last for more than an hour,” it said. — DayakDaily
