KUCHING, Aug 10: Thunderstorm alerts have been issued for eight districts in Sarawak until 6pm today.
The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia), in an advisory notice released at 2.45pm, said the affected districts are Sri Aman, Betong, Sarikei, Pakan, Sibu, Selangau, Mukah, and Dalat.

The department also said that anticipated weather conditions include heavy rain and strong winds.
A warning is issued when there are signs of a thunderstorm with a rain intensity greater than 20mm/hour or expected to last for more than an hour.
The thunderstorm warning is short-term and valid for a maximum of six hours per issuance. — DayakDaily
