Three teenagers claim trial to sexual assault charges

KUCHING, March 6: A 19-year-old youth and two others pleaded not guilty to sexual assault charges on their underage victim.

They were charged at the Sessions Court and Magistrate’s Court here respectively.


The first accused, 19, pleaded not guilty before Sessions Court Judge Jason Juga, who fixed March 30 for pre-trial case management. The court allowed the accused to be released on a RM10,000 bail with two local sureties.

The two other accused, aged 17 and 18, were charged at the Magistrate’s Court. They pleaded not guilty to the charge framed and were allowed to be released on RM5,000 bail with their mother as surety.

Magistrate Mohd Syukri Mokhtar fixed April 3 for pre-trial case management.

The victim of this case is a 14-year-old, who was the girlfriend of the 19-year-old accused.

The boyfriend faced two charges, where he was accused of groping the victim’s breast and inserted his finger into the victim’s private part at Jalan Kampung Santubong, at about 9pm, on Feb 24, 2020.

He was charged under Section 14(a) of Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, which carries an imprisonment not exceeding 20 years, and liable to whipping, upon conviction.

The 18-year-old accused was believed to have sexually assaulted the victim by forcing her to perform oral sex on him. He was charged under Section 14(b) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, which carries an imprisonment not exceeding 20 years and liable to whipping, upon conviction.

The 17-year-old accused was charged under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 for sexually assaulting the victim. — DayakDaily
