KUCHING, April 9: Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, Utilities Minister Datuk Seri Dr Stephen Rundi and Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian have all tested negative for Covid-19.

They received the testing results indicating that they are clear of infection yesterday.

The three state cabinet ministers as well as Uggah’s press secretary Edward Subeng, a former journalist for national news agency Bernama, were categorised as Covid-19 person-under-investigation (PUI) cases as they had attended a State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) meeting on March 27 with Assistant Transportation Minister Datuk Dr Jerip Susil.

Dr Jerip was admitted to Sarawak General Hospital on April 2 after he had tested positive for Covid-19.

Dr Jerip believed that he contracted the virus through one of his staff who attended the Good News Fellowship Conference Church gathering and was confirmed to be Covid-19 positive.

Following confirmation that Dr Jerip was Covid-19 positive, those who attended the same meeting as him on March 27 were all ordered to undergo self-quarantine and be screened for the virus.

Meanwhile, Edward who had undergone screening at the Covid-19 screening centre at the Youth and Sports Complex here was ordered to undergo a second quarantine period until April 19. — DayakDaily
