Three soldiers apprehended in Sibu for violating quarantine orders

SIBU, Aug 18: Three soldiers from Kem 14 Jalan Oya have been apprehended for flouting the Covid-19 home quarantine order.

Sibu district police chief, ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said at about 3pm on August 17, his department received a call from the public that three soldiers wearing white quarantine wristbands were seen in a car at Jalan Channel.

Police went to the place and found the trio, aged between 21 to 25, inside a white car.


They were from Kota Bahru, Kelantan, Johor and Melaka.

“They have just arrived here from their respective places and have been ordered to observe quarantine in their camp barracks. But they were spotted in the town centre,” he said.

The trio could not provide explanations on why they were in town and not in their barracks when questioned.

ACP Stanley said the case is being investigated under Section 269 of the Penal Code and Section 22(b) Act 342.—DayakDaily
