SIBU, May 7: Three men have been ordered to be remanded for seven days by the Magistrate’s Court here today for their alleged involvement in the death of a police constable.

The remand order was to allow police to investigate the case under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

Aged between 21 to 27, they were colleagues of the deceased Norhalim Tumiran, 25, from Pahang.

The deceased was last night found with a gunshot wound on his right ear in a house at Lane 9 Jalan Permai.

“Prior to the incident, the victim who was staying in the police headquarters came to the house which was occupied by five persons. He was then playing computer games before breaking fast,” said Sibu district police chief ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit.

A police team rushed to the house upon receiving a call that a policeman was found dead in the house.

“He was sitting on a sofa at the time of the incident,” he said.

He added that the victim was transferred here about one and half month ago and was attached with the Motorcycle Patrol Unit (URB) of the Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department (JPJKK).

The victim is survived by a wife and a one-year-old child.

Stanley said the Crime Investigation Department (CID) was investigating the case from all angles. — DayakDaily
