KUCHING, Nov 15: Three out of four new Covid-19 cases reported today are close contacts of two active clusters in Kuching.
State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) revealed that Case 1,037 and 1,038 are related to the Greenhill Cluster while Case 1,039 was related to a positive contact in the Wisma Saberkas Cluster.
“Cases 1,037 and 1,038 are the family members and close contacts under one roof to Case 918 who was reported positive on Nov 3. Two of these cases did not show any Covid-19 symptoms.
“Case 1,039 is the friend and close contact of Case 947 who was reported positive on Nov 6. This case experienced coughs and fever on Nov 6,” it added.
The committee revealed these new cases have been admitted into isolation wards at Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) for further treatment while active contact tracing is being carried out.
The fourth positive case reported today is a local man who went for a Covid-19 swab test after experiencing fever, tiredness and headache on Nov 14.
SDMC disclosed the patient is an employee of a private company and is living in the dormitory provided by his employer.
“This case had no history of travelling overseas or visiting Covid-19 high-risk areas outside of Sarawak.
“The case has not been found to be related to any of the active clusters, so the case is being categorised as a local transmission case,” SDMC revealed in its statement today.
Thus, the cumulative total Covid-19 cases in Sarawak stands at 1,040 as of today.
Meanwhile, SDMC announced the end of the Bah Arnab Cluster in Kuching which involved 12 Covid-19 cases.
All cases related to the cluster have recovered and been discharged from hospitals, with no deaths reported from the cluster.
With this, there are now a total of five active clusters in the state namely the Greenhill Cluster (90 cases), Wisma Saberkas Cluster (44 cases), Jalan Abell Cluster (15 cases), Baki Cluster (33 cases), and Seladah Cluster (nine cases).
Meanwhile, SDMC also revealed that 18 patients have recovered and were discharged from hospitals today, and there is one Covid-19 case being treated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
There are also seven new Person-Under-Investigation (PUI) cases with one case awaiting laboratory test results.
“Today, there are 192 Persons-Under-Surveillance (PUS) who are registered into various hotels across Sarawak to be quarantined, resulting in a total of 2,751 PUS being quarantined in 31 hotels throughout Sarawak.
“A total of 31,292 PUS have completed their 14-day quarantine,” SDMC added. — DayakDaily
