KUCHING, Jan 24: The appointment process for Community and Tribal Heads (Ketua Masyarakat dan Ketua Kaum, KMKK) in the Kapit Division is conducted in an orderly and transparent manner through a specially established committee, said Minister of Works and Kapit MP Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi.
In a Facebook post, Nanta pointed out that the selection of KMKK was determined through a structured mechanism to ensure fairness and accountability.
He made the remarks after attending the ceremony for the handing over of letters of appointment to three newly appointed Penghulu, as well as the presentation of tokens of appreciation to two Penghulu who had completed their service.
Nanta also stressed the importance of continuous training and capacity-building programmes for KMKK, which should be regularly conducted by the Resident and District Offices to further strengthen the quality of service delivery to the people.
“The efforts and good work carried out by KMKK over the years must be continued, as this responsibility is an ongoing trust,” he said.
In addition, he encouraged KMKK to continue learning and to adapt to the use of the internet and mass media, noting that the use of technology has become essential in business operations and information dissemination in today’s environment.
The newly appointed Penghulu are Penghulu Robert Edmund Ngumbang, Penghulu James Sandak Bidai and Penghulu Sekudan Abor.
Also present at the ceremony was Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department (Bumiputera Law and Custom), Datuk Jefferson Jamit Unyat.
