KUCHING, July 25: The High Court here sentenced a pair of brothers and their friend to death for murdering an Indonesian man near Sarawak Tropical Peat Research Institute in 2019.
High Court Judicial Commissioner Alexander Siew How Wai who presided over the case found Keithson Imang Tuba, 21, Ryan Mccallister Raedy, 21, and Raymondson Ding Tuba, 26 guilty after a full trial.
Siew ruled that all three accused had failed to prove their case beyond reasonable doubt and that there was conflict in the accused’s testimony.
The three men were charged with murdering 20-year-old Damian Wati, an Indonesian, on July 15, 2019, at about 1.50am to 7.30am outside the compound of Sarawak Tropical Peat Research Institute.
They were charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code, read together with Section 34 of the same Code, which carries a mandatory death sentence upon conviction.
Investigation revealed all three accused consumed alcoholic beverages before a fight broke out between the accused and the deceased. The deceased’s body was thrown into a drain.
DPP Yong Suk Hui prosecuted while Keithson and Raymondson were represented by counsel Roy Angau Gingkoi, and Ryan was represented by counsel Timothy Joel. — DayakDaily
