Three men assaulted by armed mob

MIRI, July 23: Three friends found themselves in trouble after their car was blocked by individuals in nine vehicles at a traffic light intersection in Tudan on Monday night.

At least 20 men armed with machetes, steel rods and sticks came out from the said cars and began to attack the victims and smashed the victims’ car.

Following the 11.30pm incident, all three victims were rushed to Miri Hospital for medical treatment. Two of them reportedly sustained serious injuries.

According to sources, prior to the incident, the trio was on their way to a ‘rumah asap’ (barbecue stall) in Tudan from Lutong, when suddenly their way was blocked by nine vehicles.

Police are investigating the motive of behind the attack.

The offence is framed under Section 147 of the Penal Code for rioting. — DayakDaily
