Three gov’t bills, motion to print Sarawak Constitution to be presented in upcoming DUN Sitting

KUCHING, May 13: A total of three government bills will be tabled in the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting, scheduled to commence on May 15 until 24.

Speaker Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar said the bills to be tabled are Supplementary Supply (2022) Bill, 2023; Supplementary Supply (2023) Bill, 2023; and Sarawak Craft Council Bill, 2023.


Deputy Premier and Second Minister for Finance and New Economy Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas will table both the Supplementary Supply (2022) Bill, 2023, and the Supplementary Supply (2023) Bill, 2023.

The first reading of these bills will take place on May 16, followed by the second and third readings on May 18.

Additionally, Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah will tabled the third bill, which is Sarawak Craft Council Bill, 2023.

The first, second and third reading of the Sarawak Craft Council Bill, 2023 are scheduled for May 16.

In other proceedings, Asfia mentioned that a Ministerial Motion will be presented under Standing Order 23 (1)(a), read together with Article 42 of the State Constitution, to authorise the government printer to print 10,000 copies of the State Constitution of Sarawak.

The motion will be moved by Uggah on May 17 and will be seconded by Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Office (Law, MA63 and State-Federal Relations) Datuk Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali. — DayakDaily
