SERIAN, Nov 5: Parti Bumi Kenyalang (PBK) has withdrawn from contesting in P198 Puncak Borneo, leaving the constituency in a three-corner fight.

The candidates are Datuk Willie Mongin from Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu under Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS-PBB), Diog Dios from PKR and Iana Akam from Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB).

Tomson Ango, who was supposed to contest under PBK’s ticket said he has decided to withdraw from the contest due to health reasons.

“I am not contesting due to health reasons, as I was just discharged from hospital after suffering from a minor stroke,” he said when met at the nomination centre at Siburan district office, here.

He said the decision not to contest was made yesterday.

He also said he had decided to “pave the way” for PSB in order to avoid a straight fight between GPS and PKR.

The list of candidates was announced by returning officer Ranum Bari at 12:10pm.
Statistics from Election Commission (EC) revealed that Puncak Borneo has 79,969 registered voters, an increase of 33,789 from the last general election.
Of the total, 5,227 are voters between 18 and 20-years-old after the Undi18 Bill was gazetted on Dec 1 last year. ā€”Ā DayakDaily
