Thousands in traditional costumes throng Darul Hana Bridge in attempt to smash Malaysia Book of Records

KUCHING, May 21: The Unity Week Celebration 2023 has begun its attempt to enter the Malaysia Book of Records (MBOR) for most participants wearing ethnic attire in an event.

As early as 6.30am, members of the public started to gather at the Darul Hana Bridge along the Kuching Waterfront here, and as of 11am, a total of 2,175 people have registered to take up the challenge.

The cut-off time for the counting is at 3pm.

At the same time, the event also aimed to set another MBOR record for the most ethnic cultures on display in an exhibition.

Among the attire that will be exhibited are Malay traditional attire from every state in Peninsular Malaysia; Chinese traditional clothing including cheongsam, samfoo, cheongsam and Baba-Nyonya ; Indian traditional attire including sari, lehenga choli, salwar kameez (Punjabi suit), Anarkali, kurta, dhoti and sherwani; Eurasian (Serani) clothing; traditional Mah Meri attire (Orang Asli of the peninsula); as well as traditional attire worn by various Sabah and Sarawak ethnic groups. — DayakDaily
