KUCHING, Jan 22: This year’s Sarawak-level Chinese New Year Celebration open house is expected to draw a crowd of 5,000 people at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) on Jan 29.
In a news report by the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian said the celebration this year will be held earlier to give space to those who will be busy with Chinese New Year preparations.
“The celebration will start as early as 8.45am until 2pm So, for those who want to attend, make sure to arrive before 2pm,” he explained at a press conference today.
He said, the Sarawak Head of State (TYT), Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, and his wife, Toh Puan Fauziah Mohd Sanusi are expected to grace the event along with Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and his wife Puan Sri Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tuanku Bujang.
Dr Sim also expects 5,000 visitors to enliven the celebration this year.
The celebration promises to be vibrant event, featuring a variety of engaging activities and serving as a platform to strengthen the spirit of unity among the multiracial community in Sarawak.
Also present at the press conference were Minister for Transport Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin, Deputy Minister of Public Health, Housing and Local Government Datuk Michael Tiang Ming Tee, and Deputy Sarawak Secretary (Operation), Datu Hii Chang Kee. – DayakDaily
