Third shipment of 4,680 doses of Pfizer BioNTech vaccine arrives Kuching

The third shipment of Pfizer BioNTech vaccine has arrived at Kuching on Mar 10, 2021.

KUCHING, Mar 11:  The third shipment of 4,680 doses of Pfizer BioNTech vaccine has arrived at Kuching last night, says Local Government and Housing Minister Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian.

He said the Sarawak government is all geared up to immunise the whole state “as fast, as soon and as many as possible”.

“Just allocate us more vaccines especially in the (Covid-19) outbreak districts,” Dr Sim urged the federal government in his Facebook posting.

Dr Sim who is also Batu Kawa assemblyman said there was a Zoom session between Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Khairy Jamaluddin and Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) team including Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah, Dr Sim and others yesterday.

The request for more vaccines had been put forth to Khairy who is also the Coordinating Minister of the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme.

Sarawak so far had received three shipments of Pfizer BioNTech vaccines. 

The first shipment of 23,400 doses arrived at Kuching on Feb 24, following which the Sarawak government rolled out its statewide immunisation programme on Feb 26.  

The second shipment of 31,590 doses which arrived at Kuching on Mar 3, were received by Dr Sim at Kuching International Airport.

The third and the fourth shipment have the same number of 4,680 doses each. While the third shipment arrived yesterday, the fourth shipment will be delivered to Kuching on Mar 17.

The fifth shipment of 14,040 doses is expected to arrive on Mar 24 while the sixth consisting of 9,360 doses will reach Kuching on Mar 31, 2021. — DayakDaily
