KUCHING, Feb 15: ‘The world knows where Sarawak is now,’ says Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
He said Sarawak is gradually making its mark on the world map while earning the recognition of major countries in the world, including the European Union (EU).
“Last night (Feb 14), I met with 19 ambassadors from the European Union and their corporate leaders. For the first time, they’ve come in a large group to see the development in Southeast Asia.
“They’ve come together from all the countries in EU such as France, Sweden, Finland, Germany, and many more. They came last night and today, they’re still in Kuching to learn our economic policy.
“It means the world already knows where Sarawak is. They may not know us last time, but now they do, because we have new economy,” said Abang Johari when attending Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Bintulu’s Chinese New Year open house in Bintulu today.
Last night, 18 ambassadors from the EU led by Ambassador of the EU to Malaysia, His Excellency Michalis Rokas attended the EU-Malaysia Business Day 2024 Networking Dinner at a hotel here.
This morning, the EU delegation continued their exploration in Sarawak by visiting the micro algae facility located at Sarawak Biodiversity Centre (SBC).
It is understood that the group will visit Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) immediately after SBC. — DayakDaily
