The iconic Borneo Cultural Festival in Sibu returns from July 19-23

The BCF is a week-long celebration of food, music, and performances celebrating the diverse communities in Sibu such as the Iban, Bidayuh, Orang Ulu, Malay, Melanau, and Chinese.

SIBU, March 30: The annual iconic Borneo Cultural Festival (BCF) is returning after a two-year hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and will be held in Sibu from July 19 to 23.

According to a statement issued today by the Sibu Municipal Council (SMC), its deputy chairman Bujang Abdul Majid stated that this year’s BCF celebration will coincide with the Council’s 40th Anniversary and will last only five days rather than the usual ten.

ā€œWe are going to celebrate Borneo’s diverse culture, which everyone can enjoy together.

ā€œWe will make several changes to BCF this year, and we anticipate that people from all over the world will gather in Sibu to celebrate the ā€˜Beauty in Ethnic Diversityā€™ from various staple pavilions, including Dayak, Melayu/Melanau, and Chinese pavilions,ā€ he said.

He continued by stating that the Council will announce various showcases in the coming months.

Additionally, Bujang said SMC would be doing its best to ensure that the celebration is celebrated with strict adherence to the standard operating procedures (SOPs).

ā€œThose attending the BCF celebration should adhere to the most recent SOPs available; only by adhering to the SOPs will participants be able to truly enjoy the event,ā€ ā€” DayakDaily
