KUCHING, March 10: TGV Cinemas now says everybody is a V-V-VIP with the launching of TGV-V-V-VIP Day on March 11 by giving out one free movie ticket with any ticket purchase.

“You are a VIP! You are a VIP! You are a VIP! Everybody is a VVVIP!!!” was the headline to the announcement of TGV-V-V-VIP Day promotions.

“Inspired by recent fake news of ghost VIPs, Minmin (TGV team) presents TGV-V-V-VIP Day.

“V-V-VIP status is available to all, from marhaen (commoner) like Minmin to kayangan people (cinema patrons). Come chill-chill and watch movies but sorry, #NoRestartAtTGV even for V-V-VIP!” said TGV Cinemas in a social media post yesterday (March 9).

Hashtags to emphasise equality among all TGV customers such as #KitaSemuaVIP (We are all VIPs) and #TGVIP were also attached.

To enjoy V-V-VIP treatment on Friday (March 11), login or join TGV’s MovieClub to receive the bonus movie money at all TGV locations when purchasing any movie tickets, with terms and conditions applied.

To end the announcement, TGV Cinemas added a footnote that said: “Seriously guys, technical errors do happen and our amazing hardworking staff are doing their best.”

TGV Cinemas was recently criticised for restarting ‘The Batman’ movie that had already been playing for 45 minutes at one of its outlets in Kuching.

It was alleged that the screening of the movie was stopped and replayed from the beginning due to late arrivals of some VIPs.

This was later denied by TGV Cinemas, explaining that there were never any VIPs but patrons of the same hall who had been kept outside due to miscommunication among staff members.

As a token of apology, all affected guests have been given full refunds and two complimentary movie tickets. — DayakDaily
