Temporary road closure for construction of ‘Green Connector’ pedestrian bridge

KUCHING, Jan 24: Road users travelling through Jalan Tun Abang Haji Openg are advised that the road will be closed temporarily for the construction of the ‘Green Connector’ pedestrian bridge for the new Sarawak Museum complex.

The closed section will be from the junction of Jalan Barrack to the junction at Jalan Satok-Jalan Reservoir from 7pm on Jan 27 to 5am the next day.

A press release from the Public Works Department (JKR) stated that traffic bound from Jalan Satok towards Jalan Tun Abang Haji Openg would be diverted to Jalan Reservoir; traffic bound from Jalan Tun Abang Haji Openg at St Joseph to be diverted to Jalan Satok and Jalan Reservoir; and traffic bound from Jalan McDougall towards Jalan Tun Abang Haji Openg would be diverted to Jalan Barrack.

“All road users planning to go towards the town centre and surrounding areas are advised to take the alternative roads as shown in the map attached. Those planning their journey towards Merdeka Plaza and surrounding areas are advised to use Jalan Satok, Jalan Haji Taha dan Jalan P Ramlee.

“Road users are advised to follow the temporary traffic flow as indicated on traffic signboards. The road users are urged to plan their journey to avoid any inconvenience.

“In case of bad weather or any unforeseen circumstances, the road closure will be postponed to the following day. Any inconvenience caused is very much regretted,” said JKR. — DayakDaily
