Tembok Miri Cluster of Miri Central Prison yields 169 Covid-19 new cases

KUCHING, July 13:  There are no new Covid-19 clusters reported in Sarawak today, but the existing Tembok Miri Cluster in Miri have recorded an increase of 169 new cases.

All Covid-19 cases of Tembok Miri Cluster involved individuals of the Miri Central Prison where 168 are detainees while the remaining one, the staff of the prison facility.


The 169 of Miri Central Prison takes up more than one-third of Sarawak’s total new Covid-19 cases of 472 today.

With this, the Tembok Miri Cluster topped the list of cluster with highest number of active cases at 240 as of today.

Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement today also said that Mongkos 2 Cluster in Tebedu have recorded an increase of 49 new cases.

Other clusters recording new cases were Kampung Kendaie Cluster with 9 cases, followed by Industri 121 Kuala Baram Cluster (5), Benteng Sri Aman Cluster (3), Sungai Long Seripa Cluster (1), Lunyim Cluster (1), Sungai Pelepak Cluster (1) and Serikin Cluster (1).

At present, there are 100 active clusters in Sarawak, with 91 clusters showing no increase in number of cases.

At the same time, SDMC announced that Dalat has changed its Covid-19 zone status from orange to yellow after reporting only 18 cumulative local infections within the past 14 days.

To date, there are 21 districts classified as Covid red zones, 4 as orange zones while as 14 yellow zones.

Daro district remains the only Covid-19 green zone in Sarawak. — DayakDaily
