KUCHING, June 14: A delegation from Singapore’s Temasek Polytechnic has visited Sarawak to explore potential venues for future student trips and to engage with key academic and governmental bodies.
The Sarawak Trade and Tourism Office Singapore (Statos) facilitated the visit, which included five personnel from the International Relations Department, School of Business, School of Design, and School of Humanities and Social Science.
“The primary objective of this visit was to evaluate potential venues for organising student trips to Sarawak and to establish collaborative ties with esteemed institutions such as Unimas, Swinburne University, and the Ministry of Education, Innovation and Talent Development Sarawak.
“This visit was organised following a trip in May 2024, where Temasek Polytechnic sent close to 70 students from Singapore to Kuching,” it said.
Statos said the previous visit by the students was more focused on exploring collaboration opportunities with government agencies and identifying suitable venues for larger student groups.
It also said that they played a crucial role in facilitating both the student trip and the work trip for the Management of Temasek Polytechnic and senior lecturers, ensuring that the polytechnic establishes important connections with the appropriate agencies in Sarawak.
“Statos believes that this work trip will pave way for more students from Singapore to visit Sarawak in near future.
“Furthermore, we anticipate that this initiative will foster an increase in student exchange programmes between Singapore and Sarawak, strengthening the ties between the two regions,” it added. — DayakDaily
