KUCHING, Apr 15: Maintenance works on telco towers and opening of internet centre in areas classified under Covid-19 Green Zone are allowed in Sarawak during the Movement Control Order (MCO) which entered the third phase today.

State Disaster Management Committee chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said this decision was made during the Committee’s daily meeting today (April 15).

On the distribution of two million free face masks from the state government, he informed that each household in the Covid-19 Red Zone areas will be given six pieces of face mask while a household in the Orange and Green Zone will be given four pieces of face masks.

“The distribution coordination is currently being done by the Resident and District Officers,” he told a daily press conference on Covid-19 today.

“A total of RM6.5 million worth of PPE (personal protection equipment) from China under Sarawakku Sayang Special Aid have arrived via MAS Kargo on April 9, and distributed to 33 healthcare facilities in the state,” he said.

Uggah added that the PPE supplies will be delivered to the remaining three hospitals soon.

He also reminded all government agencies as well as private corporations to abide by the instructions and guidelines issued by the Committee from time to time.

Despite MCO compliance rate in the state was at 97 per cent and the Covid-19 situation was under control, he urged people to abide by the MCO and play their role in stopping the spread of Covid-19. ā€”DayakDaily
