KUCHING, May 26: Telang Usan has become the only district in Sarawak classified as a Covid-19 green zone after Limbang has was classified as a yellow zone with one local infection reported today.
According to reports from the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), there was one new case of Covid-19 reported in Limbang.
Thus, Limbang has become a Covid-19 yellow zone, a zone which reported one to 20 cases in the past 14 days.
Aside from that, Daro and Asajaya districts have turned into orange zones after reporting 25 cases and 40 cases of coronavirus respectively in the past fortnight.
However, the Covid-19 situation in Beluru district has improved after the district reverted back to an orange zone from a red zone with a cumulative 25 cases of local transmission in the past two weeks.
In the meantime, there are 25 districts classified as Covid-19 red zones in Sarawak.
They are Tanjung Manis, Tatau, Julau, Bukit Mabong, Betong, Pusa, Belaga, Sebauh, Sri Aman, Pakan, Song, Kanowit, Selangau, Saratok, Subis, Mukah, Sarikei, Samarahan, Serian, Meradong, Kuching, Kapit, Bintulu, Miri and Sibu.
The red zones reported a total of 6,879 cases of Covid-19 in the past 14 days.
Besides, five districts in Sarawak namely Daro, Asajaya, Tebedu, Beluru and Bau are classified as orange zones which reported a cumulative 158 cases of local infection in the past two weeks.
Moreover, nine districts which include Limbang, Kabong, Matu, Marudi, Simunjan, Lundu, Lawas, Dalat and Lubok Antu reported a cumulative 70 cases of Covid-19 in the past fortnight. — DayakDaily
