TEGAS launches Unreal Engine Programme from Aug 13–17

KUCHING, July 10: Tabung Ekonomi Gagasan Anak Sarawak (TEGAS) announced the launch of its inaugural Unreal Engine training programme in Sarawak, marking a significant step towards empowering Sarawakians to thrive in high-income creative industries and unlock new digital business opportunities.

According to a press release, the training, set to take place from Aug 13–17 at the TEGAS Digital Village, is a collaborative effort involving TEGAS, EFXCO Academy, and Borneo Digital.

The 5-day intensive course, led by authorised trainers, will provide participants with cutting-edge skills in Unreal Engine, a premier real-time 3D creation tool utilised across diverse industries such as gaming, film, architecture, and automotive.

“We are thrilled to launch this initiative, which underscores our commitment to fostering high-value digital skills aligns perfectly with Key Enabler 03: Education and Human Capital Development under Post-Covid Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030,” stated Datuk Len Talif Salleh, Sarawak Deputy Minister for Urban Planning, Land Administration, and Environment as well as Deputy Chairman of TEGAS, in the release.

He noted that filmmakers, game developers, and visual artists are increasingly embracing cutting-edge technologies and that through this programme, TEGAS will strive to cultivate local talent, equipping them with the skills needed to thrive in the rapidly changing digital landscape and drive innovation within the industry.

Unreal Engine is a leading game engine developed by Epic Games, and celebrated for its high-fidelity graphics and versatility across various creative and entertainment industries, including video games, film and television, architectural visualisation, automotive design, and virtual production.

It also supports virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) development.

Meanwhile, Hussin Khan, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of EFXCO Academy, highlighted the comprehensive nature of the course.

“This intensive course is meticulously crafted to cover all critical aspects of Unreal Engine. Participants will gain comprehensive knowledge of the tool and its diverse applications, preparing them to utilise Unreal Engine effectively in various settings.

“Working together with TEGAS and Borneo Digital by offering this high-quality training, we aim to empower Sarawakians to engage in high-income creative industries, fostering economic growth in the State,” he said.
