MIRI, March 30: Two suspects have been remanded for allegedly raping a 14-year-old school dropout.

The two suspects are aged 17 and 23.

Miri police chief ACP Lim Meng Seah said the case would be investigated under Section 375(b) of the Penal Code for gang rape.

It is understood that the victim has been staying with her uncle and aunt for the last seven years after her parents divorced.

On March 25, she accompanied her aunt to the hospital for an operation. However, by the time her aunt woke up, she could not find her niece.

Her uncle then lodged a missing person police report and was informed on March 28 that she has been spotted wondering at Pasar Tamu Lutong at around 3pm.

Her uncle immediately went to fetch her and send her for a medical check-up.

It was confirmed she had been raped. — DayakDaily
