MIRI, May 4: A teenager was killed in a road accident at KM77 Jalan Miri-Bintulu yesterday evening.
Sylvester Kenneth Augustin Embie, 19, from Sungai Sebatuk Niah, was riding a superbike Yamaha YZF-R25 when the fatal accident occurred at about 6.30pm.
Sarawak Traffic Investigation and Enforcement chief, Supt Alexon Naga Chabu, confirmed the incident.
“The victim was riding alone from Niah Bazaar, heading to Bintulu, when he lost control of the vehicle and crash into the drain on the left side of the road, causing severe injuries.
“He was pronounced dead by medical officers at the scene,” he said in a statement.
It was understood that the victim was riding without a valid driver’s licence.
The case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act (APJ) 1987.
