KUCHING, Nov 5: A 16-year-old boy who admitted raping a 12-year-old girl on two occasions will be sentenced on December 17.
Magistrate Nursyaheeqa Nazwa Radzali fixed the date to hear the probation report prepared by the Welfare Department before delivering the sentence.
The teenager was granted bail of RM2,000 with one parent standing as surety.
He faces two charges under Section 376(1) of the Penal Code, which carries a jail term of up to 20 years and whipping upon conviction.
Court facts revealed the assaults occurred at a house in Siburan around 1.30am and 10.40am on October 26.
The offences came to light after the victim’s father, a labourer, lodged a police report when his daughter confessed to having had sexual intercourse with the accused twice.
A medical examination at Sarawak General Hospital later confirmed findings consistent with sexual assault.
The girl had been reported missing but returned home on October 27 after a male friend dropped her off.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Chuah Kai Sheng appeared for the prosecution, while the accused was represented by lawyer Lim Lian Kee. —DayakDaily
