SERIAN, April 12: Village Development and Security Committees (JKKKs) in Tebedu have been urged to get involved in Border Community Emergency Response Teams (CERTs).

“I see this programme (CERT) as an important programme because the participants can help the government to prevent crime and other social ills by becoming the eyes and ears of the government.

“So for this reason, the programme ought to be extended to JKKKs and more members should be recruited,” Tebedu assemblyman Dr Simon Sinang Bada pointed out.

He stressed that increasing the number of members was critical because Tebedu is near to the border with Indonesia and hoped that such programme be continued.

“Not only the programme be continued, but the participants bw given training and knowledge from time to time,” he asserted.

He said this at the closing ceremony for a two-day Border CERT programme here which saw the participation of 142 individuals from 33 villages in Tebedu.

The programme, which involved the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), police and Veterinary Services Department, among others was held at Tayung Langui Hall, Kampung Pichin.

On a separate note, Dr Sinang said he will continue the good work of his predecessor Datuk Amar Michael Manyin Jawong to bring development to the constituency. ā€” DayakDaily
