Team Kapuas Hulu from West Kalimantan crowned champion in Premier Open 20s at S’wak Int’l Dragon Boat Regatta 2023

KUCHING, Oct 30: Team Kapuas Hulu from West Kalimantan, Indonesia was crowned the champion in Premier Open 20s at Sarawak International Dragon Boat Regatta 2023.

The event, which was held on Sunday (Oct 29), saw the paddlers finishing the final round in one hour, 11 minutes and 90 seconds, followed by Shenzhen Ironman Dragon Boat Team from China (1:13:56) in second place, Entulon’s Family Team from Sabah (1:13:84) in third place, and Pasukan Lela Cheleria in fourth place.


Team Kapuas Hulu also took the first-runner up place in the International Premier Men 12s category, bagging a total of RM10,000, trophies and medals in the two categories.

The prizes were presented by Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts and Minister for Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah during a ceremony held at Riverside Majestic Hotel yesterday.

Held from Oct 28–29, the 9th edition of Sarawak International Dragon Boat Regatta saw a total of 60 teams with over 1,700 participants from 20 countries including Spain, China, the Philippines and United Arab Emirates.

Seven categories were contested, namely International Premier Open 20s; International Premier Open 12s; International Premier Mix 12s (five male and five female paddlers); International Premier Ladies 12s; International Masters Mix 40 and above (for paddlers born in 1982 and before); International Cancer Survivors Race 12s; and Malaysia Closed Men 12s. — DayakDaily
