Team DBNA Kuching Urban Branch A triumph at Dayak Bidayuh National Association bowling tourney

KUCHING, Nov 19: Team Dayak Bidayuh National Association (DBNA) Kuching Urban Branch A beat out 30 other teams to win the DBNA Bowling Tournament 2023 held yesterday (Nov 18).

The team, comprising Adelina Joseph, Dr Kismet Hong Ping, William Muge, and Andrew Dain, collected 1,948 pins to finish first and lift the YB John Ilus Challenge Trophy.

In second place was DBNA Serian B with 1,864 pins, and third was DBNA Bau A with 1,674 pins.

The top three teams also walked away with electrical goods as their prizes.

Bukit Semuja assemblyman and tournament sponsor John Ilus handed the prizes to the winners at the end of the tournament at Megalanes Emart Batu Kawa.

Also present were Opar assemblyman Billy Sujang, DBNA secretary-general Jubilant Austinway, vice president Dr Clarence Jerry, other supreme council members and branch chairmen.

DBNA assistant treasurer and its Youth Development Committee chairman Bronne Marshall Benedict Poris said this year’s tournament was well received, with 31 teams throughout Sarawak.

“This is the fourth time DBNA has organised this bowling tournament. It is a good platform to close rapport and to build friendships,” he said.

He also said that 28 teams participated in the open category, which saw The Cop’s finishing first with 2,389 pins, JPS Bowler in second place with 2,351 pins, and Medix third with 2,265 pins.

For the open category, the first-placed team won RM1,000 cash, and medals; second-placed RM500 and medals; and third-placed RM400 and medals. — DayakDaily
