KUCHING: A 51-year-old teacher was remanded for seven days to facilitate investigations into a rape case involving his student from a secondary school in Siburan near here.
The remand order was given by Magistrate Zulhairil Sulaiman this morning.
The suspect was apprehended at his home in Tapah around 7pm yesterday.
CID chief Datuk Dev Kumar said the arrest was made following a police report lodged by the victim’s mother at the Siburan police station around 5pm yesterday.
She had been informed of the suspect’s act towards her child by another teacher, he said.
In her report, the mother of the victim who is a Form Two student accused the suspect of taking advantage of her daughter and engaging in sex with her on two occasions in his car.
