KOTA SAMARAHAN, Dec 11: A local teacher, Awg Kasmurie Bin Awg Kitot, has been acquitted of all four sexual assault charges brought against him by the Sessions Court.
The charges, which were filed under Section 14 of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, alleged that the teacher had sexually assaulted two of his students at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Tarat in Serian between Nov 14 and 21, 2023.
The allegations included physical sexual assault and the inducement of sexual acts.
However, after a thorough review of the evidence presented by the prosecution, the court determined that the prosecution had failed to prove its case beyond a reasonable doubt.
As a result, the Sessions Court judge presiding over the case, Shafiza Abdul Razak Tready, acquitted the accused of all charges.
The accused was represented by Counsel Shankar Ram. — DayakDaily
